Software Engineer(s) – various levels

Summary of role

 

A fantastic opportunity to join a brand new Cyber Innovation Centre Software Development Team, contributing to developing solutions using the latest technologies as part of growing team and working along world class partner organisations.

 

Main duties of the position

 

Basic Objective: To develop and maintain mission critical applications and systems

Key Responsibilities:

Develop product functionality, user interfaces and performance improvements

Document designs and advise on product support material

Investigate product issues and develop solutions to customer issues

Develop test plans and methodologies to ensure developed products meet Raytheon quality standards.

Be involved in, committed to and part of the continuous improvement of software applications and systems.

 

Candidate Requirements

Essential Skills

Two or more of the following : –

Experience in C/C++ based  application development.

Experience in Java application development.

Experience of web application frameworks development in languages such as Javascript, node.js, angular.js, HTML5/CSS3

Experience of application development using Java orientated middleware, for example, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Apache Camel

Experience of software application development utilizing RDBMS (e.g. Oracle/MySQL) and/or unstructured persistence layers, (e.g. ElasticSearch, MongoDB )

With additional experience in some or all of the following:-

Proficient in Microsoft Windows 64bit operating systems as a development and deployment platform

Proficient in Linux as a development and deployment platform

Proficient in use of software configuration management systems (e.g. Clearcase, CVS or Git).

Experience in secure development techniques and tools that produce secure systems.

Good understanding of virtualisation (e.g. VMWare and Hyper-V).

Good interpersonal skills for customer liaison. 

Good written and oral communication skills. 

Good time management, organisation and prioritization skills.

 

 

Desirable Skills

Experience of scripting languages; Perl, Python, ruby

Experience of PKI and encryption techniques.

Experience with high performance distributed systems

Experience of Big Data Analytics and Visualization

Working in an Agile / SCRUM /Devops delivery model,

Qualifications

BSc in Computing, desirable but not essential.

 

Typical Experience

 

Experience of software development in a military or Government project background would be an advantage, but is not essential. A broad knowledge of Information Security “best practice” would be useful

Knowledge of  configuration and deployment software applications and exposure to the full software development lifecycle.
