The Defence Intelligence Solutions team is responsible for the design, development, test and live support of a wide range of deployed Geospatial systems across a number of MOD sites. The role involves engineering leadership and engineering in the full systems engineering lifecycle from requirements analysis through to design, build, test and acceptance. There is also system transitioning to be planned, designed and tested.
Main Duties:
The Technical/Solutions Architect (Technical Design Authority) role shall require a versatile individual who can make effective and highly valued contributions to activities across the project lifecycle in Intelligence and Security, Geospatial Intelligence and deployed oriented geospatial IT environments.
The incumbent shall be expected to be capable of operating in a senior role working closely with customer and delivery teams, and be capable of operating alone and unsupervised if necessary.
The successful applicant shall be a capable of performing requirements management, stakeholder management, and elements of delivery and project management activities.
The candidate must be a team player who is prepared to lead from the front and work with a multi-national engineering team and the customer community.
The main tasks of the role are:
As TDA you will be accountable for:
Solution development of legacy refresh programmes
Solution development of new capability solutions
Where they do not exist, ensure “As-is” Diagrams and documentation are produced for solutions
Producing Future Architecture Document for solutions
Be involved in multiple projects in the expert/lead role, not only for projects impacting your Site or System
Early Engagement Tasks – Helping with Technical, Planning and Resourcing.
Reviewing and Approving of Impact Assessments and High-Level Designs, for your projects that impact your Domains
Providing Technical delivery guidance for project resource management
Stakeholder Management – Updates, Reports as required
Vendor Management – understand their roadmaps and how we can use this.
Knowledge Transfer to Peers and development coaching.
Produce High Level Designs and associated low level designs, covering the infrastructure, networking, applications within an existing Enterprise and network
Produce or ensure that the associated configuration is produced correctly
Whilst you’ll act as a primary point of responsibility for the specific design activities, you will work closely with other stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation and transition to operations team.
Working closely with the TDAs or IPT leads from the other teams within the business you will champion the design and delivery of high quality, scalable and cost effective design solutions.
Requirements elicitation and decomposition with the Raytheon Team, the customer and users;
Technical delivery lead for implementation of the solution design
Researching and resolving system integration issues and other system defects;
Conduct Trade Studies when there is product choice available;
Validating design documentation from subcontractor teams
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
Full Engineering Life Cycle from Requirements decomposition to acceptance and User sign off.
Knowledge and experience of designing and implementing information systems to meet specified user requirements;
Ability to manage and control the expectations of a diverse set of stakeholders;
Experience of implementing security aspects and solutions – JSP440.
Experience in subcontractor management.
Good experience of software and systems integration engineering principles;
Holder of current DV security clearance
Track record of delivering work packages to cost, schedule and quality;
Problem analysis and resolution;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Willingness to work out of hours on occasion;
Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas.
Desirable:
Engineering team management.
Ability to take responsibility for technical aspects of a project, and work closely with project management to delivery to time, quality and cost budgets.
Proven experience in the design and delivery of intelligence, GEOINT or C4ISR solutions;
Holder of current SC security clearance and willing to obtain the highest levels of UK Security Clearance;
Ability to manage, influence and persuade stakeholders and senior counterparties.
An effective communicator and presenter, with the ability to build relationships at all levels across the business.
Demonstrate the ability and adaptability to identify and describe complex technical solutions and challenges to technical and non-technical stakeholders in terms suitable for the target audience
